The Project
Located within a private family home in Collier Street, the en-suite occupies a space rich in period character. The design called for a bathroom that felt sympathetic to the home's original features while offering the comfort and functionality of a contemporary space.
A decorative open fireplace provides an unexpected focal point, bringing warmth and character to the room.
The Brief
The clients envisioned a calm, inviting retreat built around warm neutral tones and layered lighting.
A bespoke painted vanity was central to the scheme from the outset. Salacia designed and produced the unit in-house, specifying the paint finish and detailing to complement the room’s period character. The client was clear that the result should feel crafted, not assembled.
Salacia’s Role
Salacia provided design consultation, specification and supply for the project, including the design and commissioning of a bespoke painted vanity. Product selections were carefully chosen to complement the character of the property while delivering durability and everyday practicality.
Design Notes
The bespoke Salacia vanity was designed to the dimensions of the room and finished in a soft blush paint tone chosen by the client. Reeded drawer fronts and period detailing give the piece its character, with Thomas Crapper undermount basins keeping the top surface clean and uncluttered.
Booth & Co brassware in bright nickel was selected for its refined finish - a natural companion to the painted joinery and the room's period bones.
The Matki Eauzone shower enclosure was chosen for its frameless, minimal profile. In a room with strong individual elements, this needed to occupy its space without drawing attention to itself.
The Result
The completed en-suite feels entirely at home within the property. The combination of bespoke joinery, nickel brassware and carefully selected sanitaryware creates a space that is elegant, comfortable and enduring. Anchored by the decorative fireplace, the room balances period character with modern performance, resulting in a bathroom that feels both distinctive and timeless.
"I had a clear vision for the space and Salacia helped bring it to life. The vanity design, the shower enclosure, the finishing details - everything works together and the room feels completely at home in the house."
