THE PROJECT
As part of this full home restoration, Interior Designer, Maeve Pratt partnered with Salacia to design, specify and supply four bathrooms for River Cottage. This 17th-century Kent home, required the same considered approach to the bathrooms as the rest of the house. Retaining the character of its leaded windows, sloping ceilings and exposed oak beams was central to the scheme, with expressive tiles, warm brushed brass and carefully chosen details connecting the four spaces.
THE BRIEF
The brief was to create four individual spaces that felt cohesive within the home, balancing the character of the original property with a beautifully resolved finish throughout. The master ensuite centres on a freestanding bath raised on a veined stone plinth and a Salacia bespoke Turnstone vanity painted in Templeton Pink. In the children’s ensuites, bold blue geometry gives way to softer florals and pink, while the cloakroom brings its own personality through blue-grey paneling and a personalised cistern.
SALACIA’S ROLE
Working in partnership with Maeve, Salacia designed, specified and delivered the master ensuite, two children’s ensuites and cloakroom, coordinating the furniture, sanitaryware, brassware, heating, lighting and glazing across all four spaces.
A standout detail was the bespoke double vanity in the master ensuite. Having spotted the original unit in Salacia’s Cranbrook showroom, Maeve worked with the team to adapt it to the space, with a made-to-measure double basin design finished in Farrow & Ball’s Templeton Pink to complement the wider scheme. Together, the specification and carefully coordinated details bring Maeve’s vision to life while giving each bathroom its own distinctive character.
Our Solution
Master Ensuite
- Salacia: Bespoke Turnstone 1200mm double vanity in Farrow & Ball Templeton Pink, brushed brass knob handles and a bespoke double-bowl worktop in Ethereal Glow quartz with ogee edging.
- Britton: S20 3 square undercounter basins.
- Gessi: Venti20 basin mixers, freestanding bath mixer; wall-mounted adjustable showerhead, thermostatic mixer, sliding rail and handshower. Venti20 paper roll holder and robe hook, with an Originì standing brush holder.
- Ashton & Bentley: Lefka matt white freestanding bath.
- Bette: BetteUltra shower tray with BetteSolid waste.
- Thermosphere: Heated shower seat with programmable black controls.
- Bard & Brazier: D-Rail floating five-bar hydronic heated rail with installation frame.
- Thomas Crapper & Co.: Personalised Venerable WC pan with low-level cast metal cistern and brushed brass brackets. Classic oak soft-close seat.
- Kudos: Ultimate shower screens 10mm glass screen with brushed brass finish.
- Lighting & mirrors: Two Quintessence Wellington wall lights, Newington rectangular mirror in brushed brass and two demister heat pads.
- Ca’Pietra: Tiles throughout.

- Vitra: Integra 370mm compact washbasin.

- Aurelia two-drawer wall-hung vanity with LED lighting paired with an Orani cast basin in gloss white.
- Coalbrook: Domo brassware, shower kit, flush plate, robe hook and paper holder in brushed brass.
- Kudos: Connect2 shower tray Pinnacle slider door and two Ultimate wet-room panels in brushed brass.
- Imex: Arco WC pan with soft-close seat
- Alca: concealed frame, cistern and flush plate.
- Heating: Stour heated towel rail.
- Lighting & mirrors: Two Quintessence Facet LED wall lights in heritage brass and a 60cm Docklands octagon mirror in brushed brass.
- Ca’Pietra Adventuras tiles in Palma Olive.
Cloakroom
- Thomas Crapper & Co.: Viceroy cast metal cistern and WC pan personalised with “River Cottage”, classic mahogany soft-close seat and large brushed brass brackets.
- Thomas Crapper & Co.: Marlborough basin with brushed brass mixer tap and bottle trap, plus a Marlborough toilet roll holder in brushed brass.
- Heating: Stour heated towel rail.
THE RESULTS
Four distinct spaces, thoughtfully connected
Across the four bathrooms, a shared palette and considered detailing create a clear sense of connection without sacrificing individuality. The master ensuite makes a confident statement through its Templeton Pink vanity and plinth-mounted bath; the children’s rooms bring colour and pattern; and the cloakroom’s personalised cistern gives the scheme a fittingly individual finish.
With Salacia coordinating the design, specification and delivery across all four rooms, Maeve had one partner supporting the bathroom scheme from the overall vision through to the finishing details.
