THE PROJECT
Set within a substantial period home in Surrey Hills, the project called for bathrooms that worked with the building’s history. Cornicing, original joinery and generous room proportions set the tone. The specification was layered in around them.
THE BRIEF
The clients wanted bathrooms that felt right for the house: grounded in its period character, but not nostalgic. The home is lived in by a busy family, and the brief reflected that. Storage, practicality and durability were as important as how the rooms looked.
SALACIA'S ROLE
Salacia provided specification, design consultation and supply. Working with the scale and character of the existing rooms, the team resolved both the aesthetic and practical demands of the project through product selection and bespoke joinery.
OUR SOLUTION
Bespoke Joinery - Salacia
The vanity and bath surround were made to order at Salacia's East Sussex workshop. Designed to fit the specific dimensions of the room, the pieces address the storage needs of a family home while sitting naturally within the period fabric of the house.
Master En-suite and Cloakroom - Lefroy Brooks
The Lefroy Brooks Edwardian undermount basin was specified for the master en-suite and cloakroom, selected for the quality of its construction and durable finish. The detailing draws on classical references, perfectly suited to a house where period features remain prominent.
Guest En-suites - Burlington and St James
Burlington sanitaryware and washstands were specified across the remaining en-suites. St James brassware in unlacquered brass or polished nickel finishes complete each room.
THE RESULT
The bathrooms at Betchworth answered the brief beautifully. They feel appropriate to the house, they function well for a family, and the quality of the specification means they will continue to do both.
